WEEKEND WELLNESS RETREAT
SELF CARE: DO IT!
As history has proven true (hence the great depression), depression is real and all the natural disasters, political scandals, and "the world might be coming to an end" mentality can really bring our society down... not to mention the pull of social media placing a wedge in our ability to feel truly connected as a society.
Recently, I have been feeling a bit down myself with all of life piling up including rent, workplace bullying, the west coast being on fire etc. so, I took a group of friends (non of whom had met previously) out to my beach house in South Beach, OR for a bit of a self-care retreat!
Part of me didn't want to go, part of me wanted to stay inside and watch movies but the other part of me (the larger part) was calling me to be around people who are in my corner and who always have been and still are cheering for me! Being the team-builder that I am, I invited a group of individuals who I have met at different seasons of my life and who have each taught me something unique. My hope was that we could all come together and build each other up and see what else came out of getting truly amazing people together.
The first day was a bit rocky... I was struggling and feeling kinda down about life and felt like my creative flame was slowly blowing out. However, with some very kind and motivating words from my friend, Mark Kuroda, I was able to snap out of it and get back to being the confident and creative hustler I was born to be!
We did yoga, drank vino, soaked in the hot tub, and ate amazing food - it was incredible. We talked about what we aspire to do, conceptualized different storyboards, and encouraged one another with positive affirmations and recognized what we admire about one another.
I challenge all of you to get up and get out when you are feeling unmotivated. Surround yourself with positive and motivating people who want you to succeed and believe you will!
You never know what will happen from getting a group of creative, positive, and motivating people together for a weekend… here’s what came out of our experience - share with us what came out of yours!
Bloopers = This is a very raw capture of who I am as a person - all credits to Mark Kuroda for capturing who I am in the raw…
